ILLINOIS STATE UNIVERSITY AND MINOT STATE UNIVERSITY PICKED TO FINISH FIRST IN RESPECTIVE DIVISIONS IN MCH PRESEASON COACHES’ POLL
OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA (Sept. 23, 2024) – Illinois State University and Minot State University have been selected by the Midwest College Hockey coaches as the preseason favorites to win their respective divisions within the MCH in the upcoming 2024-2025 season. Illinois State was selected by the MCH coaches to win the MCH South Division while Minot State was predicted to win the MCH North Division.
Minot State received eight of ten first-place votes from MCH coaches to finish atop the MCH North and received 96 of 100 possible points. The University of Jamestown was slotted in at second place in the MCH North with 78 points and one first place vote. The other first place vote in the MCH North went to the University of Mary, which finished in third place in the poll with 62 points. Midland University received 40 points to land in the fourth slot in the poll while Waldorf finished in fifth place in the poll with 24 points.
In the MCH South, Illinois State University received nine of ten first place votes from MCH coaches and received 98 of 100 possible points to finish atop the poll. McKendree University received the other first place vote and finished in second place in the poll with 64 points, just ahead of third place Iowa State University with 62 points. The University of Illinois received 54 points to finish fourth in the poll while Northern Illinois University received 22 points to round out the poll in fifth place in the division.

The teams finishing in the top four spots in each division during the MCH 2024-2025 regular season will compete in the MCH Conference Playoffs, to be held in Bloomington, Illinois and hosted by Illinois State on February 21-23, 2025.
The winner of the MCH Conference Playoffs will hoist the Lindsay Cup as MCH Playoff Champion and receive the MCH’s autobid to the 2025 ACHA Men’s Division 1 National Championships presented by FloHockey, held on March 13-18, 2025 at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
